    Backyard Oasis Transformation

Hello sweet friends.  I keep thinking things will calm down over here, but alas, we seem to always be go-go-going.  Luckily, our backyard oasis is complete (except one small project – more on that later), so we have the perfect place to unwind after a busy day! If you caught my DIY Outdoor Bar post, that was just one small part of the transformation! Here, I’ll show you the projects we tackled to take a space that used to house a giant, aluminum shed we never used, to a relaxing space we never want to leave! THE list (aka, everything we did to change the space): Disassemble and discard (aka…

    DIY Outdoor Bar

Summer is in full swing here in Southern California! We knew heading into Summer this year that we wanted to make the most of our outdoor space, and that all started with a hot tub.  Then of course, me being me, I had to DECORATE the hot tub area. 😛 (I mean, duh. Right?!) So, add on a pergola, rugs, pillows, plants, and the best part – an outdoor bar area with bar stool seating. Not only can we now eat a nice dinner out here (because yes, every pergola also needs a vintage chandelier hanging from the middle), but the bar is the same height as the hot tub…

DIY Kitchen Backsplash [PART 1] – Choosing Your Tile

Hey y’all! I know it’s been another hot minute since I posted here, but things have been non-stop go go go over here at Casa del Ochoa! But I’ve been promising y’all a backsplash post for some time now, so here it is! Well, here is Part 1. Let me explain.  As I was putting this post together, I realized that it’s not just the actual How To of the backsplash install that is the real MEAT of this DIY.  In fact, I think choosing our tile was the MOST difficult part (yes, even harder than being up at 2am using a tile saw – thanks neighbors for not calling…

Y’ALL.  It has been a hot minute since I’ve posted here.  I KNOW. And I’m so sorry! (And I’ve missed ya!)  But May be CRAY – am I right?!  I swear this month flew by.  The combination of finishing up the One Room Challenge, and then being EXHAUSTED from the aftermath of it all, plus my parents visiting last weekend really just made May fly.  But I am BACK, and while I haven’t quite had the time to get the backsplash tutorial up (coming soon, promise!), I do have a quick and easy DIY for ya today. When we were designing our kitchen for the ORC, I knew I wanted…

    DIY Concrete Overlay Countertops

Hey friends!! Now that the One Room Challenge is finally complete, I can finally get back to my regular DIY blog posts for y’all.  If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I had y’all vote on which project you wanted to see first – and this post is the result of that poll!  So here ya go – how to install DIY concrete countertops with Ardex Feather Finish concrete! I will also tell you, these counters are NOT impervious to scratches.  My husband already opened two wine bottles (cue downward pressure in circular motion movement) on them and they scratched.  Now, by “they,” I mean the SEALER scratched,…
