How to Transform a Builder Grade Door with Fusion Mineral Paint & Molding

Good news and bad news, friends! Bad news – I’m home sick. I think I finally caught what’s been going around, and it is 0% fun. The good news, though, is that after sleeping until 12:45pm today, I’m getting a little work done here on the blog. I’ve got about 2 hours though, and then it’s back to bed for me! Today let’s chat about builder grade finishes. They are usually sufficient to do the job, but they are also sufficiently BORING. Take every door in our house for example. They are white, flat, and hollow doors. Very blah. We transformed the doors in our kitchen and master bathroom previously,…

But for now, I’m here with a quick and easy DIY for you – this adorable faux Olive Tree/Topiary! What You’ll Need: Faux Olive Bush (I used THIS one from Hobby Lobby) Bucket of your Choice (I used the larger one of THIS set, also from Hobby Lobby) Branch (I prefer larger ones – snagged mine from a lake near our house, but you can use any size you prefer and adjust for wherever you plan to put the finished tree) Hand-held drill, with…

    DIY Outdoor Bar

Summer is in full swing here in Southern California! We knew heading into Summer this year that we wanted to make the most of our outdoor space, and that all started with a hot tub.  Then of course, me being me, I had to DECORATE the hot tub area. 😛 (I mean, duh. Right?!) So, add on a pergola, rugs, pillows, plants, and the best part – an outdoor bar area with bar stool seating. Not only can we now eat a nice dinner out here (because yes, every pergola also needs a vintage chandelier hanging from the middle), but the bar is the same height as the hot tub…

DIY Kitchen Backsplash [PART 1] – Choosing Your Tile

Hey y’all! I know it’s been another hot minute since I posted here, but things have been non-stop go go go over here at Casa del Ochoa! But I’ve been promising y’all a backsplash post for some time now, so here it is! Well, here is Part 1. Let me explain.  As I was putting this post together, I realized that it’s not just the actual How To of the backsplash install that is the real MEAT of this DIY.  In fact, I think choosing our tile was the MOST difficult part (yes, even harder than being up at 2am using a tile saw – thanks neighbors for not calling…
